I thought I would spend a little time explaining to people the differences between the different types of caravans as there is an innumerable amount of people that wouldnt know the difference between [1] touring caravans and a [2] static caravans. The long and short of it is that a touring caravan is one that is towed between a domestic car and taken to a caravan park for the weekend, whereas a static caravans is the type of caravan that will sit on its plot for the majority of its life, only moved to be taken to a new park or to be scrapped.
Static caravans are generally a lot higher specced with more of the modern conveniences that you would expect from a holiday home. Tourers are a lot more compact as space is at a premium and as such tend to have less conveniences that you would find from a static caravan.
It is actually illegal to tow static [3] caravans on a public road without having a support vehicle behind, even then it still needs the correct amount of flashing lights and such.
